Congratulations to Mundaring Christian College for winning the Perth Solar City Bring It Down school energy challenge!

Mundaring Christian College made an overall 54% reduction against their historical weekly baseline, including an amazing 60% reduction in the last week of the competition.

At a closing event on 4 November 2011, the Hon Peter Collier, Minister for Energy awarded Mundaring Christian College with their prize - a $10,000 eco-makeover from Perth Solar City.

Hillside Christian College was close behind with a 45% overall reduction. Ballajura Community College, the largest participating school, made the biggest overall energy saving in the competition of 23,560 kWh - $5,800 worth of energy!

Key to the schools success was access to real time energy use data as provided by Perth Solar City.  By knowing how and when they were wasting energy - they were able to start saving.

Participating schools will keep the energy monitoring equipment for a further 12 months to help them sustain their changes.

A big congratulations and thank you to all schools who took part in the competition. Keep up the good work!
